Quote

Steven Ivers is a famous writer from Maine.

When Anna was institutionalized after her suicide attempt, Steven had been engaged to Rachel Summers, his wife's live-in nurse, after she died. Anna and Alex thought that Rachel caused the fire that killed their mother but it was proven to be Anna's fault. At the night of the fire, Anna caught Steven having an affair with Rachel, enraged, she filled a watering can from a large gasoline tank in the boathouse in an attempt to burn the house down with those two in it, however, she didn't close the tap carefully, as a result of which a trail of gasoline spilled from it, which was then ignited by a falling candle, resulting in an explosion that killed both her mother and her sister. Steven actually does know something about Rachel, her real name is Rachel Worshitsky, she changed her last name three years ago because her boyfriend was abusive.

Steven's actions had caused Anna to have sever symptoms schizophrenia, dissociative identity disorder of her sister, and hallucinations since she left the institution. Because of this, Anna's psychotic tendencies lead to Matt's death, by letting him fall and break his back, and Rachel being stabbed to death.

Steven is the father of Anna Ivers and the late Alex Ivers, the husband of the late Mrs. Ivers, and the fiancé of the late Rachel Summers.

After the incident, Steven became one of the victims of the Anti-Hunters.

Steven cares for his family and their well-being, mostly Anna considering her mental instability. However, Steven was secretly caught by Anna having an affair with Rachel Summer, his wife's live-in nurse, showing how unfaithful he become when Mrs. Ivers became terminally ill.

Steven was aware of her Anna's unstable state of mind, though, he didn't realized his affair was the caused. Given that, Steven denied Anna's beliefs that Rachel killed his wife, although, he was aware of her past, he stated he changed her last to escape her boyfriend who was abusing her.

After Rachel's death and Anna being arrested, Steven became a broken man and becoming horribly depressed.

Physical Appearance

Steven is a middle-aged man with a trim built.

He has black hair with some gray streaks.

His eyes are brown.

Relationships

Anna Ivers

Anna is Steven's younger daughter.

Steven seems to be a close relationship with her as when ten months passed, following her suicide attempt after his terminally ill wife died in a boathouse fire, Anna looked with pleasure to see her father coming to pick her up upon her discharge from the asylum as they later hugged.

While driving home, Steven tells her to check the glove compartment as he had a surprise for her, to which she jokingly wants to know if its a cheeseburger and he chuckles at it. Opening it, Anna found a book he wrote, given he's a famous writer, Steven dedicated his latest book to Anna and her sister, Alex, titled "The Repose of Sand", to which she responded in glee that he finished it. She asks if its any good but he doesn't know and he's sure she'll tell him. He grabs a tin a cookies and Anna found it delightful as she took a bit until he mentioned Rachel made them. He even stated he told Rachel he wanted Anna to herself.

Despite their father-daughter relationship, Anna was displeased that Steven started dating Rachel, who had been her mother and his wife's, respectively, live-in nurse. Anna was uncomfortable with his and Rachel's plans to throw a "Welcome Home Anna Bash" party.

Later, Anna watches Alex criticizes their father for sleeping with Rachel while the girls' mother was still alive and sick in bed as he didn't sent the letters Alex wrote for Anna while she was institutionalized.

At night in bed, Anna was reading his book until she heard him and Rachel having sex. Disgusted, she puts the book on the drawer and decides to go to bed while listening to music with her cell phone and headphones.

Next night, Anna and Steven, along with Rachel and Alex, are in the living room watching TV. Anna, seeing him and Rachel close together on the couch, hears them talking about the party, she leaves in disgust.

After the day they found Matt's body in the ocean, Steven was concerned for Anna as he was her boyfriend. At home, when Rachel decided to make breakfast for them to make them feel better, Anna told Steven Matt was coming for her but he assures her that what happened to Matt wasn't her fault. When she told him that Rachel overheard their conversation and wanted Matt to never to come to their home, he questions why Rachel would do that. He tells her not do it anything she would do before he goes into the kitchen to have breakfast.

Rachael mentioned to Anna during when the latter was in the former's room, she stated her father discussed with Dr. Silberling about her behavior and thought it was a mistake letting her out of the asylum.

At night, during the party Steven and Rachel said they held, Anna pretended to be happy when she went to chat with him. Steven compliments how terrific she looked and admits to any consultation the party is pretty weird for him too. She smiled for real until he asks her a favor to help with Rachel tonight, being honest, he thinks she feels good enough for the party, to which she reluctantly agrees.

In the kitchen, Steven, along with Alex, caught a terrified Anna and a frustrated Rachel picked up a pot roast from the floor that was knocked off the table with a kitchen knife. He sternly tells the sisters to go to bed.

After the party, Anna went to his studies and tells him about Rachel but doesn't want to hear it. Anna concludes she's lying, about her name, and questions him about knowing where she's from but doesn't want to dignify it with a response and Anna knows because he only see what he wanna see, he defends her saying she's just wanna make this family work but assures him that Rachel only wants him. Steven finds it ridiculous, when Anna expressed on how her mom could see him siding with "that bitch" who's trying to tear their family apart. That's when Steven point out that Rachel isn't, in retrospect, it was Anna, he even considers talking to Dr. Silberling and she quickly deduces she's crazy but before he can say anything else Anna pointed out he's not wearing his wedding ring from his wedding with her mom. She questions about marrying Rachel, to which he responded with a "yes", making Anna devastated. He says their getting married some time in fall, they talked about going away but Steven wants the wedding at their house, for the family, adding he's not ashamed to be happy again than walks out.

When Steven came back to work, he found a bloody Anna and seemingly Alex, she tells him it was Rachel and that she drugged them. Confused, Steven tells her that Alex died in the fire, along with her mother, she looks down to see she was holding the knife and that she stabbed Rachel, a horrified Steven asks what she has done than calmly questions her about the fire not being a accident...that's when she remembers; on the night before the fire, Anna left the part and went back home, she caught Steven and Rachel having sex, enraged, she filled a watering can from a large gasoline tank in the boathouse, intending to set them and the house on fire, stating, after Alex came home to hell her the guys want to come back at their house, its not their house and "they can burn in hell", however, she didn't close the tap carefully causing a trail of gasoline to spill than it ignited by a fallen candle lantern thus incinerating both Alex and his wife.

Steven's actions had caused Anna to have sever symptoms schizophrenia, dissociative identity disorder of her sister, and hallucinations since she left the institution.

Also, its shown that because of Steven's unfaithfulness, Anna lost all genuine respect of her father, as she was willing to burn the house with both him and Rachel in it.

In real life, Anna had a plan which involves killing Rachel and making her father a broken man.

When Steven was questioned by Sheriff Emery about why would Anna lie when she had the thought of Rachel being Mildred Kemp, he remained silent as he watched Anna through the window being taken away by the police, she sits in the back seat of the police cruiser still starring at each other before the car drive off, taking her back to the asylum.

Because of his unfaithfulness, Steven is partly responsible for Anna's actions, such as the deaths of his older daughter, his wife, Matt, and his fiancée, Rachel.

After getting word of Steven's death, Anna didn't seem pleased or concern at all.

Alex Ivers

Alex was Steven's older daughter.

Their not seen interacting but its presumably that Steven is close to her like Anna as he dedicated his latest book titled "The Repose of Sand" to her and Anna.

Like Anna, Alex was repulsed when Steven started dating Rachel, who had been her mother and his wife's, respectively, live-in nurse. She didn't hesitate to criticize him for sleeping with Rachel while the girls' mother was still alive and sick in bed as he didn't sent the letters Alex wrote for Anna while she was institutionalized. She even wanted to tell him off about how Rachel sold Anna out to him about considering releasing Anna from the institution was a mistake but Anna stopped her, stating it would make it worse for the latter.

When Steven found Rachel dead, Anna told him that she drugged both her and Alex but, in the state of confusion, he tells her that Alex is dead, she died in the fire.

It turns out Alex has been a split personality to Anna. When Anna filled a watering can from a large gasoline tank in the boathouse to burn down the house Steven and Rachel were after she caught them having sex, however, she didn't close the tap carefully causing a trail of gasoline to spill than it ignited by a fallen candle lantern thus incinerating her in a explosion.

Overall, Alex died without knowing about Steven's affair with Rachel.

Mrs. Ivers

Mrs. Ivers was Steven's wife.

There not seen interacting but its assume Steven loves her, however, he became unfaithful after she became terminally ill. Steven was having an affair with Rachel, who use to be his wife's live-in nurse.

After her death, its hinted he may still harbor feelings for but proved he was willing to move on as Anna saw he didn't have his wedding ring on from the day of their wedding, as he got engaged to Rachel and planning to get married some time in fall.

Steven's relationship began after his wife became terminally ill, he started to have an affair with her.

Steven and Rachel cares and loves each other. Rachel made a tin of cookies wanted to come along when Anna was being released but Steven told her he wanted her to herself, to which she agreed without question.

When he brought her home, both he and Rachel plan to throw a "Welcome Home Anna Bash" party. After a disgusted Anna leaves, Rachel thought she hit it wrong as Steven comforts her. At night in bed, Anna was reading his book until she heard him and Rachel having sex. Disgusted, she puts the book on the drawer and decides to go to bed while listening to music with her cell phone and headphones. Next night, Rachel and Steven, along with Anna and Alex, are in the living room watching TV. Anna, seeing him and Rachel close together on the couch, hears them talking about the part, she leaves in disgust.

When Steven, Anna, and Alex came home, Rachel heard that Anna's boyfriend, Matt, died and made breakfast for them to ease the tension.

During the day and night, Steven and Rachel hit it off but Anna and Alex thought it was something else. He defended her, not listening about their concerns, mostly with Anna, as Rachel mentions her father discussed with Dr. Silberling about her behavior and thought it was a mistake letting her out of the asylum. During the night of the party, Steven asks Anna to help with Rachel tonight, being honest, he thinks she feels good enough for the party, to which she reluctantly agrees. In the kitchen, Steven, along with Alex, caught a terrified Anna and a frustrated Rachel picked up a pot roast from the floor that was knocked off the table with a kitchen knife. He sternly tells the sisters to go to bed.

In his studies, Anna confronts him about her beliefs that something is not right with Rachel but refuses to dignify it with a response. Anna realizes he's not his wedding ring from his wedding with her mom. She questions about marrying Rachel, to which he responded with a "yes", making Anna devastated. He says their getting married some time in fall, they talked about going away but Steven wants the wedding at their house, for the family, adding he's not ashamed to be happy again than walks out.

After coming back from work, Steven finds a bloody Anna and Alex, than finds out about Rachel's death. When Anna tells him that Rachel drugged her and Alex, in a state of confusion, he tells her that Alex died in the fire, Anna looks down to see she's holding a bloody kitchen knife she used to kill Rachel.

When questioned by Sheriff J. Emery, he revealed that Rachel's last name was Worshitsky, she changed it three years ago to escape an abusive boyfriend.

Though, never seen interacting, Steven is aware he's Anna's boyfriend but does approve to the point he doesn't complain about her dating him.

When Matt's body was found, he was concerned and because he's Anna's boyfriend, he was concerned for Anna's well-being.

At home, Anna told Steven Matt was coming for her but he assures her that what happened to Matt wasn't her fault.

They were never seen interacting but Steven is aware Dr. Silberling is Anna's psychiatrist.

According to Rachel, Steven discussed with Dr. Silberling about Anna's behavior and thought it was a mistake letting her out of the asylum.

During Anna and Steven's heated argument regarding Rachel, he considers talking to Dr. Silberling.

After hearing about Steven's death, Dr. Silberling was upset, knowing Anna will be devastated.

Steven seems to be on good terms with the sheriff.

They were first seen interacting about Matt's death.

After Rachel's death and Anna being arrested, Sheriff Emery questions him about Rachel on how her name on her passport didn't match with her driver's license. He answered that she changed her name three years ago because her boyfriend was beating her up and that her real name is Rachel Worshitsky. The sheriff adds that Anna somehow got in her mind that Rachel is Mildred Kemp and questions why would she made it up to which Steven remained silent.

Some time passed, Sheriff Emery, along with Detective Mills, Sgt. Volchek, and federal agent, Agent McGuire found his charred body. While listening to a videotape left by Wolf Shadow Hunter about Steven's involvement, he questions how can a price for life be this meaning to take one for extreme measures that Steven didn't deserve something like this.

Steven became a target of the organization for his unfaithfulness towards his wife, and being partly responsible for Anna's actions and her mental illness.

Steven was kidnapped by Wolf Shadow Hunter.

Steven woke up in a dark room, stripped of his clothes, he had a slow-acting poison in his bloodstream. The antidote was in a safe and the combination was written on the wall, but the wall was filled with hundreds of numbers. Also, because he's barefoot, the floor is covered in glass and his body was smeared with a flammable substance, and the only light source is a small, lit, wax candle. Steven began to try each combination but fumbled with the candle, igniting the substance covering him; burning himself alive in the process.
